Bid leveling

The lowest bid is not always the most complete.

When subcontractor bids arrive, each one is checked against the same list of scope items. Missing scope is flagged, so the general contractor compares like for like.

5 bids compared across 8 scope items, ordered from the bid that covers the most scope to the one that covers the least.

  • In the bid
  • Missing from the bid

A low base bid can leave scope out. Sorted by coverage, Bid D covers 8 of 8 scope items and Bid E covers 4. Each gap is flagged so bids compare like for like. The general contractor closes the gaps and chooses the subcontractor.
